2025 Adaptive Reuse Workshop-

East Perth Power Station 

HSA ran a three-day workshop 25-27 May with Dr Alonso Ayaya Aleman (IHS Rotterdam University). A Senior expert in Housing and Human Settlement Planning. The case study of the East Perth Power Station was attended by 18 emerging and professional participants, from a variety of backgrounds.       

 

The main objective was to approach adaptive reuse of a heritage building from a people’s centre approach (in relation to adaptive reuse, participatory planning, strategic action planning, design thinking & tactical urbanism approach). By understanding community neighborhood needs in defining and developing a strategy to address the community needs in the designing of a road map strategy of the site use.

Huge thank you to Jay Nardoo Executive Director Strategy & Development at the City of Vincent and Alana Jennings Associate Heritage at Element Advisory, for their presentations on the site background and history.

 

Three of the attendees, received employed as a direct result of attending the workshop.
